It was the early 80s when I worked as a clerk in a bookstore. When someone was buying a book, a page opened to Sri Yukteswar’s picture. My heart felt like it was physically hit. I took a deep breath in and stopped breathing for a moment. I knew I must have known this person before, and it didn’t feel like a lovey-dovey connection, but a stricter kind of feeling. Of course, later on I found out he was strict with his devotees!

I have a picture of my living room in the 1990s. Along with other saints, I had pictures of Paramahansa Yogananda and Jesus on the wall.

Years passed and in 2013 my friend Angela called early on a Sunday, and asked if i was free that morning. I was, and she took me to the SRF chapel which i didn’t even know existed. I inhaled the calm energy of the room, the beautiful flowers, the reader at the podium, and after the service, asked how I could volunteer. I was hooked. And still am 12 years later.
